One of Amazon’s executives said they were furious over the jokes displayed on the marquee for “Melania” at Lake Theater and Cafe in Lake Oswego.

The documentary hit U.S. theaters on Friday (30), but it did not go unnoticed in some locations.

According to Variety, the Lake Theater and Cafe mocked the film about the U.S. first lady by writing jokes on its marquee.

“Does Melania wear Prada? Find out on Friday!” and “To defeat your enemy, you must know them. ‘Melania’ premieres Friday,” were some of the phrases witnesses said they saw.

“We received a call saying that the bosses (that is, from Amazon) were upset with the way our marquee was promoting their film and that, according to them, Sunday would be the film’s last day here,” the theater said in a statement.

The theater’s manager, Jordan Perry, told The Oregonian newspaper that the cinema received a call from Amazon requesting the film’s removal because of the provocative marquee.

“The studio was not happy and/or did not appreciate my way of promoting their film to our own audience,” he told the outlet.

“Amazon called. Our marquee made them angry. All screenings of ‘Melania’ canceled. Show your support at Whole Foods instead. Sign up for Amazon Prime for free two-day shipping,” they wrote on Instagram.

The film cost $40 million to produce, and an additional $35 million was spent on marketing.
